Ipswich Hospital Community Choir is a thriving group of forty to fifty singers, which has been in existence for over ten years. Some of the people in the choir are hospital or NHS staff, but most are from the local community. The aim of the choir is to have fun and enjoy the pleasure of singing! This year we have been learning new material for planned performances (see details below) and reviewing other songs from our repertoire. This is wide ranging, and includes some classical pieces, as well as old favourites from the sixties and more recent pop songs.
We are lucky enough to be invited to sing at a range of venues, and over the last few years we have made regular appearances singing alongside the Ipswich Hospital Band or St Peters Band, where we have raised money for chosen charities, associated with the hospital. We also support hospital events, for example providing festive entertainment at the Volunteers party and performing at the Welly Walk for the Children’s Ward appeal at Jimmy’s Farm. We support a variety of events and are willing to consider requests to perform.
Experience of singing in other choirs, or the ability to read music, are NOT requirements to join the choir. Come along and have a couple of free trial sessions to see if the choir is right for you. We are a friendly group and you will be welcomed and supported when you come along. We meet every Wednesday evening in the Courtyard Restaurant at the hospital between 6.15 pm and 8.15 pm.
